# Developers

Read any business without an account. Write with a free key you provision yourself.

Every read is open. No key, no sign-in, and one shared rate limit so the service stays up. Writes are keyed, and a key is free for a claimed business or for anyone who asks.

## Read a business

- GET /v1/businesses/{slug} for a business and its confirmed facts.
- GET a business page with Accept: text/markdown for the markdown twin.
- The tool at /mcp for search_verified, get_business, verify and more, over MCP.

## The shape of every response

Reads return JSON with the record id behind each fact. Errors use one envelope, so a caller branches on the status and the code, never on the prose. Writes take an idempotency key and return the first result for a repeat. Lists page by cursor.

## Where the contract lives

The OpenAPI document is at /openapi.json and the catalogue at /.well-known/api-catalog points to it. The current version travels in a date header, so a change is dated, not a new path.
