Access
An assistant reads a business the way it reads any page, and the answer carries its record.
An assistant reaches a business through the same paths a browser does, plus the machine files that let it read without guessing: the JSON, the markdown twin, the catalogue and the tool. Every read is open, and every answer carries the record id behind each fact.
What an assistant reads
- The business page, and its facts.json and records beside it.
- The open API under /v1, and the tool at /mcp with the same facts.
- The catalogue at /.well-known, which points an assistant at all of the above.
A paid read
Reading a business is free. A future access gate lets an operator pay for a read on terms the operator has published, so the price is set by who is asking and never by a header the caller sets. When that arrives, a refused read says what to present and how to pay, in plain terms.
The access gate is phase two. Today every read is open.
